Other notarial services that I provide include:
Affidavits
Affidavits are statements of fact of diverse nature prepared in a free form by the person stating the facts (the “Declarant”) that are then either sworn (on a holy book or with a reference to God) or affirmed (declared without reference to God) to be the truth and nothing but the truth in front of a Notary Public. Affidavits can be used as evidence in various court proceedings.
Statutory declarations
Statutory Declarations are similar to Affidavits but their form is set by the government agency or body that requires their presentation in accordance with a specific law (or statute, hence the name). The most common Statutory Declaration is a construction progress payment / refund of builders’ lien holdback declaration. Another example of a Statutory Declaration is Custodianship Declaration for a Minor Foreign Student. If you do not have a printed form of the above declarations, it can be provided by my office.
Certified true copies of documents
Whenever a certified true copy of a document is required, a Notary can produce such a copy by making a photocopy of the original document, signing it and putting a stamp on it, declaring the copy to be “true” copy of the original. Whether it is a copy of your diploma, passport or birth certificate that you need, going to your Notary is a simple and easy way to obtain your certified true copies.
Letters of Invitation
When you wish to invite a family member to visit you in Canada and the family member needs a visa to enter Canada, you will have to provide a Letter of Invitation. You can write the letter yourself or ask an immigration lawyer for assistance. Once you have the letter, you will sign it in my presence and I will notarize your signature, confirming that it was you who signed it.
Contracts and Lease Agreements
Sometimes clients need help with drafting a contract or a lease agreement. A Notary Public can prepare a business agreement on your behalf. I have considerable experience in drafting Lease Agreements for small businesses and I will gladly help you if you need one. Just give me a call please.
Purchase and Sale of Business
Notaries in B.C. can assist clients in the purchase and sale of a business as long as the purchase involves only the business assets (real estate, equipment, inventory and goodwill) and not the transfer of shares. Please feel free to give me a call to discuss your business transaction.
